Analyzing User Research Interviews

Saturday, March 2nd from 1:00 - 5:00pm

Diane Loviglio, Resident Mentor at 500 Startups and ex-Mozilla User Researcher

What are you going to do with all that great data you just collected from your user research interviews? Synthesizing all that data - if you don’t have a method, can take forever - but you’re a startup, so you need to make sense of that data within hours not weeks. In this workshop, we’ll actually tackle a real problem, interview each other, take notes and then use that data to learn actual synthesis techniques that you can use no matter what your subject matter is.

Workshop Schedule
1:00 - 2:30PM:  Introductions, define the problem we’re solving and conduct interviews
2:30 - 3:30PM:  Make sticky notes based on interview notes
3:30 - 3:45PM:   Coffee Break
3:45 - 5:00PM:  Affinity diagramming with the sticky notes and wrap up

Student Takeaways
1. Practice sorting through tons of data to get to real insights
2. Learn how to do an affinity diagram
3. Learn how to prepare and run an analysis session with your team

Who should attend this workshop? Founders, Product Marketers, UX Designers and Community Managers who are conducing customer development interviews and need to make sense of all the data. Collecting data without knowing how you’re going to process it all can be daunting. We practice techniques to help you analyze a 12-person data set in a few hours.
