Internationally know for his riveting presentations and sold out events, filmmaker and photographer Vincent Laforet will discuss his transition from nearly two decades as a Pulitzer-Prize winning photographer for The New York Times, Life, Time, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, and National Geographic, into the world of motion.
Whether he’s shooting commercials, films, nature, cities and environs—some from helicopters that he favors—sporting events, or whatever subject he turns his cameras to, Vincent is highly respected as an innovator incorporating the latest technology, creative imagery, and storytelling into every project he works on.
This evening, Vincent will discuss many of the challenges he was faced with as he transitioned from editorial to commercial photography, through to commercial film sets as a director and cinematographer shooting commercials for clients such as Sony, Adobe, Pepsi, and Reebok.
He will also discuss current trends and how they are affecting most of the creative fields today. We will look at the rise of the internet and social media such Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and other specific tools and technologies and their direct correlation to the recent evolution of both the still photography and motion businesses.
Showing footage from the Canon 5D Mark II, Canon C300, RED Epic, Phantom, and all the way down the technological spectrum to iPhone cameras, Vincent will point out specific points in the timeline of new technology developments and how they relate to trends in the photography and film markets.
This evening’s presentation and discussion will also focus on the hybridization of the still and video worlds, allowing attendees to gain a glimpse into what might happen in the near future. While no one knows where we will be in five years, this evening’s event will give you a better understanding about how we got to where we are today and what might come next. And as Vincent wrote on a recent blog post, ‘I’ve started to ‘make’ stuff. I’ve been working with others to invent or to help to create tools that I need for myself in the film or photography world, and that I want to make available to others out there because I’m pretty sure they will fill important voids…These are simply things that I need for myself–to do my job better. Some are just wonderful silly little gadgets that we all need, while others are a bit more interesting…’
This is sure to be a great evening, and a special opportunity to see and learn from this leading filmmaker, director, and content creator working today—don’t miss out on this event, sign up now!
