Amiguitos de La Peña Presents: Asheba
- La Pena Cultural Center, Berkeley CA
An artist’s journey into the world of women’s desires through conversations with three courtesans – and a pop star.
Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” triggers several questions in Aparna, a present day dancer in North America. She calls upon three courtesans from 18th and 20th Centuries who wrote, performed and preserved erotic traditions in music, dance and poetry. In curious conversation, the threesome help the present day dancer to understand the questions of women’s desire.
