Massimo Vignelli, born in Milan, studied architecture in Milan and Venice. President of Vignelli Associates, New York.
His work includes graphic and corporate identity programs, publication designs, packaging, architectural graphics, exhibition, interior, furniture, and consumer product designs for many leading American and European companies and institutions.
Mr. Vignelli’s work has been published and exhibited throughout the world and entered in the permanent collections of several museums. He is a past president of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) and the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), and a vice president of The Architectural League of New York. A major exhibition of Vignelli Associates’ work toured Europe’s most important museums between 1989 and 1993.
Mr. Vignelli is the recipient of many important national and international awards, seven Honorary Doctorates in Fine Arts; the 1982 Art Directors Club Hall of Fame; the 1983 AIGA Gold Medal; and the 1985 USA President’s Design Excellence Award. In 1996 he received the Honorary Royal Designer for Industry Award from the Royal Society of Arts, London. Lella and Massimo Vignelli received the 2003 National Design Award for Lifetime Achievement, and in 2005 received the Architecture Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Started in 2002 by two managers of creative services (Glenn Arnowitz of Wyeth and Andy Epstein of Gund, Inc.), InSource was formed out of the need for inhouse creative business leaders to come together and learn from each other. Glenn and Andy recognized that others like themselves were feeling isolated too and came together to create a common ground where leaders could enhance their understanding and develop common positions to maximize their impact and elevate the value of inhouse design in corporate environments.
Since those early days, roundtable discussions on topics relating to real-life challenges and best business practices have been at the heart of InSource. InSource has expanded reach to hundreds of creative professionals around the world through online channels and events.
