Compared to other Asian cuisines, Filipino food has often been overlooked and underappreciated; but with its East Village debut in 2011 (and recently opened sister restaurant Jeepney), the powerhouse team behind Maharlika Filipino Moderno set out to change that, and successfully introduced authentic Filipino food—with its Malaysian, Chinese, Spanish, American, and indigenous influences—to NYC’s dining scene. Tonight, the Maharlika crew shares a few of the restaurant’s most popular regional Philippine dishes, and brings you closer to Manila… one bite at a time.
On the Menu: Garlic Rice; Filipino Fried Chicken & Ube Waffles; Gambas (Filipino-Style Shrimp); Kare Kare (Filipino-Style Oxtail Stew); Arroz Caldo (Savory Chicken & Rice Porridge).
