Eben Alexander III, MD, has been a renowned academic neurosurgeon for the last 25 years, including 15 years at Brigham & Women's and the Children's Hospitals, as well as Harvard Medical School in Boston. Over his academic career he authored and co-authored over 150 chapters and papers in peer-reviewed journals and made over 200 presentations at conferences and medical centers around the world. As a scientist and physician, he thought he knew where consciousness resided and how the brain and mind worked. A transcendental Near-Death Experience (NDE). in which he was driven to the brink of death and spent a week in deep coma from an inexplicable brain infection changed all that - completely!
He was shocked to find the hyper-reality of that spiritual realm, which had been reported in NDEs over many centuries. He spent two and a half years reconciling his rich spiritual experience with contemporary physics and cosmology. His spiritual experience is totally consistent with the leading edges of scientific understanding today. Dr. Alexander offers that together, science and spirituality will thrive in a symbiosis offering the most profound insight into fundamental truth, yielding unimaginable power. Dr. Alexander now believes that the spiritual realm is real and a seamless blending of science and spirituality is on the horizon. The keystone is in the global progression of individual conscious awakening.
With his amazing book 'Proof of Heaven' a runaway bestseller, both in the U.S. and abroad, and after his truly astounding Near-Death Experience (NDE) account has appeared in the NY Times and Newsweek, he's done extensive TV interviews with Oprah, Dr. Oz, Katie Couric, Larry King Live, ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, Good Morning America, Nightline, and others. Meet the skeptic who now believes heaven exists -- and he can prove it! Hear about his near-death experience and why it turned him into a believer.

There are no dues for membership in IANDS Santa Barbara, but attendees may wish to join and support the main IANDS organization, headquartered in Durham, NC. Monthly local IANDS Santa Barbara meetings are free and open to everyone, although a freewill donation of $10 is suggested to help us pay for venue and meeting costs... although no one is ever watching and we encourage you to come without feeling the need to donate anything if you're not financially able to.
We occasionally host IANDS Santa Barbara fundraisers with major guest speakers, or we schedule a social fundraiser evening at a local restaurant, to help offset the costs to stage the meetings and to bring in amazing guest speakers from around the U.S. and beyond. We welcome and appreciate any donors who wish to make an annual contribution to help support the non-profit 501(c)(3) IANDS organization's compassionate and educational mission, here on the California Central Coast.
Please email IANDS.SantaBarbara@gmail.com to be added to the email list for a generally once-a-month notification of upcoming meeting dates and their associated venue, or call Barbara Bartolome at 805-451-8646 for more information.
