Boardroom Communications Presents:
AN EVENING WITH DAVE BARRY
to benefit BrowardBulldog.org
Tuesday, April 8
NSU's Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale
Join us for an evening of fun with best-selling author and Pulitzer-Prize-winning humorist Dave Barry as he discusses parenting and other topics he knows little about.
Dave will share his unique insights from his latest book You Can Date Boys When You're Forty.
He insists the book is not really about parenting.
"It mentions parenting, but it covers many other topics, including things a man should know how to do, grammar, sex, camels and what women want," says Dave, who lives in Miami with his family.
In uproarious, brand-new pieces, Barry tackles everything from family trips, bat mitzvah parties and dating (he's serious about that title: "When my daughter can legally commence dating — February 24, 2040 — I intend to monitor her closely, even if I am deceased") to funeral instructions ("I would like my eulogy to be given by William Shatner"), the differences between male and female friendships the deeper meaning of Fifty Shades of Grey, and a father's ultimate sacrifice: accompanying his daughter to a Justin Bieber concert ("It turns out that the noise teenaged girls make to express happiness is the same noise they would make if their feet were being gnawed off by badgers").
A Q&A session (in which Dave will make up answers if he doesn't know them) and book signing will follow the program.
Meet Dave Barry at a 5:30 p.m. VIP Cocktail Reception. A $90 ticket includes drinks and hors d'oeuvres at a reception, upfront seating for the program in the auditorium and priority access at book signing.
General admission tickets to the 6:30 p.m. program and book signing are $25; $20 for students with ID; $35 at the door.
Note: Many of Barry's best-selling titles, including "I'll Mature When I'm Dead, "Insane City," "Lunatics" and his Peter Pan prequels written with Ridley Pearson will be available for purchase from Murder on the Beach Mystery Bookstore.
Parking: The City Park Garage is at 150 SE 2nd Street (enter on SE 2nd Avenue). The charge is $1.25 per hour.
Proceeds benefit Broward Bulldog.org, an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit providing local watchdog reporting in the public interest.
