An Appraiser's Guide to CMA's

Learn how to complete a CMA from an appraiser's point of view.
Utilizing the basic principles of the appraisal, agents will be taught how to search for the proper comparables, research various databases and complete a meaningful CMA. The goal for this seminar is to go above an administrative instruction on completion of the CMA and be enhanced by looking at it from an appraiser’s perspective. This course will identify the differences between appraiser/agents and appraisals/CMA’s. By the end of the class, agents should be able to complete a far more accurate CMA by utilizing new databases and methodology.
About the Instructor, Scott Murphy:
Scott Murphy has been appraising real estate for over 23 years. In 1993 he earned his SRA designation from the Appraisal Institute – the most prestigious designation in residential appraising – earned by less than 1% of appraisers. In 1996 he established D.S. Murphy & Associates and has grown the firm to be Atlanta’s largest residential appraisal firm, with 31 residential staff associates and 2 commercial associates - servicing the 22 county metro Atlanta market. D.S. Murphy & Associates also has offices in Destin Florida, Sarasota Florida, Jacksonville Florida, Kitty Hawk North Carolina, and Charlotte North Carolina. Scott Murphy has been an active member of the Georgia Real Estate Fraud Prevention and Awareness Coalition, the Atlanta Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and the Northeast Metro Atlanta Association of Realtors. Scott has been teaching appraisal and real estate related classes throughout the country for the past 17 years. In 2004, Mr. Murphy was appointed to the Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board where he is actively working to improve the laws and more closely regulate appraisers in Georgia.
