Amazing Refuge Race
Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Armed with GPS units, you and your team will "race" against other teams by attempting to complete required challenges on the refuge first. Teams will be given a set of coordinates where they must try to locate using a GPS unit. Once at that location, teams must work together to complete a challenge. When that task is completed, teams will receive the next set of coordinates. Those who complete all challenges and arrive a the finish first wins! Prizes from REI will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Intrigued? Call Carmen at 510/792-0222 ext. 476 for additional information and rules. Don't have a GPS unit? Borrow one from REI Outdoor School the day of the race and the refuge. Take the 30 minute introductory course on how to use the unit prior to the race.
Registration is required! You may register up to 5 people for your team. A minimum of 2 people per team. The refuge may place individuals on teams containing fewer than 5 people to ensure maximum participation. Registration deadline is August 20. There is no cost to enter.
You will be walking a minimum of 2 miles, perhaps more. It will depend on whether the most efficient route was chosen. Please bring water, a hat, and sunscreen.
There is usually a wait list for this event. If you need to cancel for any reason, please do so on eventbrite, or call 510-792-0222 ext. 476. This will ensure maximum participation.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
