About your Host
The Honorable Marcy Kaptur, who represents Northern Ohio's Ninth Congressional District, is currently serving her sixteenth term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
She is the senior-most woman in the U.S. House of Representatives and her congressional career is filled with achievements. Currently, she serves on the House Appropriations Committee and has also secured appointments to three important subcommittees: Defense, Energy and Water, and Financial Service.
Congresswoman Kaptur has focused strong efforts on rebuilding the economic might of her district such as improvements in bridge, road, rail and port facilities. Kaptur is also a huge proponent of conservation efforts and the expansion of university-related research.
She was awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars Americanism Award, in part for introducing the legislation authorizing the National World War II Memorial in Washington in 1987, as well as for her longstanding commitment to America's veterans. Kaptur is a native of Toledo, Ohio and a graduate of St. Ursula Academy. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Wisconsin and a master's in urban planning from the University of Michigan.
About the President
Barbara R. Snyder became president of Case Western Reserve University on July 1, 2007. A professor who began her academic career as a faculty member at our School of Law, she returned to campus committed to increasing academic excellence, enhancing faculty collaboration, and improving alumni engagement.
During her tenure, the university has set all-time records for annual fundraising and total donors, doubled the number of undergraduate applicants, and significantly strengthened the academic qualifications of entering students. In 2011 the university launched Forward Thinking, the university's $1 billion capital campaign, with more than 60 percent of the goal raised during the quiet phase.
Snyder assumed the Case Western Reserve presidency after serving as Executive Vice President and Provost of The Ohio State University, and as Professor of Law at the Moritz College of Law for 19 years. She graduated from the University of Chicago Law School, where she served as executive editor of its law review, and earned her bachelor's degree from Ohio State.

Guests are responsible for their own parking. Limited metered and 2-hour zoned parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods. Public parking lots are also available, with the largest being at Union Station.
