This conference is designed for Women's Healthcare Providers, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives, Certified Professional Midwives (CPM). The goal of the conference is to enhance knowledge of alternative modalities in Women's health care especially during prenatal and intrapartum period. Emphasis is placed on demonstration and individual development of skill competencies. In addition to didactic lectures, time has been allotted for demonstration and attendee return demonstration. Time has also been allotted for participant feedback and interaction. This course has been approved by the Califorina Board of Nurses and ACNM for 1.2 CEUs (12 hours).

Evelyn Simmons, MSN, CNM, QTP, CEIM
Evelyn is the CEO of Serene Alternative Pathways and creator of Birthing in the Light, a program based on the belief that birth is a spiritual, emotional, and physical event. Birthing in the Light draws on Evelyn’s experience working with women of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds to provide pathways of education for women, their support people, health care providers, and those who attend births.
Evelyn completed her BSN degree at Mary Hardin Baylor and holds a MSN from Texas Women’s University. She received her Midwifery education from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. Evelyn is a Certified Quantum Touch Practitioner and is a Certified Infant Massage Instructor. She is also experienced in the use of aroma, massage, and vibrational therapies. Evelyn has served as a clinical instructor in university nursing programs and as a preceptor for osteopathic and medical students and residents. She also serves as mentor and preceptor to midwifery and advanced nurse practitioner students.
Evelyn has over 35 years experience in leadership roles in maternal and child health. She has developed and rebuilt midwifery practices in both rural and urban settings.
