Event Details

This four-day comprehensive program utilizes a combination of D.O.T. and Guidelines for Air Medical Crew Education as it's curriculum. Our program meets and exceeds the State of Florida requirements for Air Medical crew education and covers FP-C and CFRN exam topics for both fixed wing and rotor wing air ambulance transports.


Topics include:

  • Aircraft and landing zone safety
  • Air crew dress and fitness, flight physiology, and air medical crew requirements
  • How to prepare for and ace an air medical job interview
  • How to prepare a winning resume
  • Stresses of flight, air medical resource management
  • International patient transport, land survival
  • Basic x-ray interpretation, trauma, shock, neuro, burn, respiratory, and cardiac patients


FAQs

Are your instructors experienced in both fixed wing and rotor wing flight medicine?

Our instructor are all carefully handpicked and invited to work with us. First, they must have flight experience and second they must be experienced at teaching adult learners. And most importantly, love what they do!


Is this the class that I need to meet Florida's requirements to fly air ambulance?

Our program meets and exceeds Florida's 64-E requirements for DOT training. In fact, we were the ones who saw the need in 1989 for air medical training and were instrumental in getting it passed into law in 1994.


What do I need to bring to the class?

Please bring a sweater or light jacket because the room is usually cold. You may want to bring the following: sunglasses, hat, sunscreen because we will be spending a little time outside during the static helicopter orientation if weather and call volume permits. You are welcome to bring a tablet or laptop for some of the classroom exercises.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

You can send someone in your place with at least 24-hour prior notice to our office to the start of the class.


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please bring your registration ticket with you to the class.


What is the refund policy?

Registration is nonrefundable.


Will you give me a receipt?

When you pay on paypal just print your own receipt at the time you complete the transaction.


Do you give CEs for the class?

Yes, we give nurses 32 CEs through the Florida Board of Nursing and will post them to CE Broker following the class. Paramedics can take their certificates to their medical director and request approval for CEs through their agency.

Attendance Requirements:
In order to receive course credit and / or certificate, registrants must attend courses in their entirety. Partial attendance will not warrant credit or certificate.

CEs:
CEs through the Florida Board of Nursing. CE provider FBON #50-1299. Check with your state agency for reciprocity. No refunds will be awarded.

Cancellation Policy: MECA reserves the right to cancel any event. The participant will be notified and can transfer their registration to any of MECA's other classes in the following 12 months from original course date. In the event of a natural or man-made disaster, the registered participant may elect to choose another course date within the next twelve (12) months from the original training date or substitute another participant to take their place 24-hours prior to class without penalty. Cancellations for disasters will not be refunded.

There will be NO REFUNDS.
