Join us for a talk by Mirko Ilić about his award-winning work and process, and some of the books he has co-authored, like the Design of Dissent with Milton Glaser and The Anatomy of Design with Steven Heller.
Mirko was born in Bosnia and worked in Europe illustrating and art-directing posters, record covers, and comics. He arrived in U.S. in 1986 and was commissioned as illustrator for many of the major magazines and newspapers, and became Art Director at Time Magazine, in charge of International Edition, and then Art Director of New York Times Op-Ed pages.
He has received medals from Society of Illustrators, Society of Publication Designers, Art Directors Club, I.D. Magazine, Society of Newspaper Design, and many others. He has also served as Vice President of the AIGA New York chapter, and currently teaches Master Degree classes in Illustration at the School of Visual Arts.
Clients include major newspaper/magazine and book publishers like The New York Times, Warner Brothers, ESPN, and Allworth Press; and restaurants and hotels, including The Joule in Dallas.
