Aging2.0 (@agingtoo, #aging2) is a global network of innovators working in the 50+ market. We are creating an interdisciplinary, collaborative community drawn from business, research, policy, design and technology, together with older adults themselves, in order to advance innovation and improve the quality of life.
Our events bring people together informally over drinks and good discussions. We generally start off with some 'big picture' perspectives, have a networking break, and then have pitches from startup companies and selected non-profit organizations in the space.
The meeting will be recorded on video (thanks to sponsorship from Immersion Interactive) and food and drink will be available thanks to sponsorship of our hosts, Arent Fox.

Ryan Frederick is the Founder and Principal of Point Forward Solutions, a strategic consulting firm serving the Seniors Housing & Care and related Health Care Services industries. The firm serves clients ranging from single site not-for-profit operators to Fortune 500 suppliers to institutional investors. Mr. Frederick is recognized as a thought leader and innovator in the Seniors Housing & Care and related Health Care Services industries and is a frequent speaker nationwide. Prior to founding Point Forward Solutions, Mr. Frederick served as Senior Vice President at Erickson Living, the largest Seniors Housing owner operators in the country. Previously, Mr. Frederick was a Principal at CoastWood Senior Housing Partners, a specialized real estate investment management firm that focuses on equity and equity-related investments in real estate and operating companies in Seniors Housing. Mr. Frederick began his career in Seniors Housing as an Assistant to the Executive Team at Sunrise Senior Living. Prior to Seniors Housing & Care, Mr. Frederick held various leadership roles within business development, product marketing and corporate finance for two venture backed software start-ups and was an Analyst for Hambrecht & Quist (now part of JP Morgan Chase & Co.).
Mr. Frederick holds a BSE degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Presently, he serves on the Board of the Health Care Council of the National Capital Area (HCNCA), a not-for-profit organization that brings together leading hospital systems and health care service providers in the Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC markets, and is a member of the National Advisory Council for the School of Nursing at Johns Hopkins University.

David's bio: David is the co-founder and President of Immersion Active. Founded in 1998, Immersion Active is the only interactive agency in the U.S. solely focused on the boomer and senior markets. David's primary responsibility is that of marketing strategy. He works with clients to help them define their needs and goals, as well as providing them with insight on integrating 50-plus friendly campaigns into their current marketing initiatives. In the spring of 2009, David, along with Immersion Active partner Jonathan Boehman, released their first book on how to effectively engage baby boomers online through a developmental relationship marketing approach. Titled Dot Boom: Marketing to Baby Boomers through Meaningful Online Engagement, the book has received praise from national and international marketing notables, including Microsoft, PBS, and AARP.
David attended McDaniel College where he taught as an adjunct professor for 10 years. David is a founding board member of IMMN (International Mature Marketing Network) and a standing member of the Philadelphia area C12 Group.
Robert Jarrin is a Senior Director of Government Affairs for Qualcomm Incorporated. He is based in Washington, D.C. and represents Qualcomm on U.S. domestic regulatory matters relating to wireless health and life sciences.
Jarrin’s areas of responsibility include federal wireless health policy, healthcare legislative affairs, FDA regulatory oversight of converged medical devices, FCC mobile health efforts, CMS telehealth reimbursement and ONC regulation of health information technology.
Externally, Jarrin is a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Mobile Initiatives (mHIMSS) Advisory Council, leads the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) Policy A-Team on Telehealth and Meaningful Use, is the U.S. Chair for the European-American Business Council (EABC) eHealth Policy Group, and serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of Medical Automation. He also served for three years as Co-Chair of the U.S. Policy Working Group for the Continua Health Alliance, and is seated on the Board of Directors for Vida Senior Centers, the oldest Latino non-profit organization in the District of Columbia.
In June 2012, Jarrin was asked by FCC Chairman Genachowski to help lead a task force that is currently studying how best to accelerate the proliferation of mobile health (mHealth) technologies. In September 2012, this task force prepared and presented the FCC with a formal report detailing material findings, concrete recommendations and actionable goals for the FCC and other federal agencies. Prior to joining Qualcomm, Jarrin worked as a Manager of Strategic Partnerships for Ericsson Wireless Communications, served as a Law Clerk in the White House Office of Counsel to President Clinton and also served as a Law Clerk and subsequent Consultant in the U.S. Department of Justice to Attorney General Janet Reno. Jarrin frequently lectures on mHealth and medical device regulations for the George Washington University Health Policy Department and the Case Western Reserve University, Case School of Engineering. Jarrin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland at College Park and a Juris Doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law.
Blake Henderson's interest in entrepreneurship stems from his work with small business owners and farmers in Latin America as a Peace Corps volunteer. He and his brother Matthew, a physical therapist, formed a partnership with PrimeWellness LCC to deliver customized exercise programs to older adults as a way to improve balance, flexibility, and core strengthening – enhancing an individual’s quality of life and decreasing fall risk. Matt and Blake believe today's static exercise DVDs are not good enough, that wellness exercise should be fun and educational, and that everyone should have access to professional physical wellness expertise - 24/7. By day, Blake has the pleasure of piloting new care-delivery models as an Innovation Coordinator with the Veteran Health Administration’s Innovation Initiative (VAi2).
Neurotrack has developed technology that can diagnose Alzheimer's disease three to four years before symptoms appear, creating the potential to transform the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Based on ground-breaking research and tested during a 5-year NIH funded study, Neurotrack's computer-based cognitive/visual test will give pharmaceutical companies and research organizations the tools to recruit truly qualified candidates for clinical trials and more effectively measure drug efficacy, speeding up drug discovery and development. Neurotrack is also on course to become the standard for early clinical screening of Alzheimer's and dementia related disorders.
Elli Kaplan is the CEO and co-founder of Neurotrack, an early stage company that has developed technology that can diagnose pre-symptomatic Alzheimer’s disease. Elli’s career spans two decades in the public and private sectors, at the White House, the State and Treasury Departments and the United Nations Development Program where she served as Deputy Chief of Staff. Elli’s ventures in the private sector include AIG Capital Partners, Goldman Sachs and multiple startups, including Nourish and Activate Systems. Elli helped to found Flashpoint, a startup accelerator program based at Georgia Tech, where she then served as COO. Elli is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
