African Voices Reading Series hosts book signing for me and Nina

Join us in welcoming award winning poet Monica A. Hand, the author of "me and Nina" for a special book signing and performance. In honor of Women's Histor Month, Monica will read from her poetry collection and sign copies of her book. The event is free and open to the public and will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013, 6 pm, at 270 W. 96th Street (bet. Bway & West End). For information call 212-865-2982.
Monica A Hand, author of “me and Nina,” (Alice James Books, 2012), is also a book artist. Her poems have appeared in numerous publications including Aunt Chloe, Black Renaissance Noire, Naugatuck River Review, The Sow’s Ear, Drunken Boat, Beyond the Frontier, African-American Poetry for the 21st Century, Gathering Ground: A Reader Celebrating Cave Canem’s First Decade and American Creative Writers on Class. She has a MFA in Poetry and Poetry in Translation from Drew University and has attended residencies at Poets House in New York and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. A Cave Canem alum, she is also a founding member of Poets for Ayiti. Currently, she is a PhD candidate – Creative Writing – Poetry at the University of Missouri- Columbia.

African Voices is a non-profit literary arts magazine devoted to publishing and presenting work by artists of color. Founded in 1992, African Voices will celebrate its 20th year anniversary in 2012. The magazine has published more than 700 writers since its inception.
