As you know, Infectious diseases continually surprise and challenge us. New diseases emerge, known diseases spread and common diseases become incredibly resistant to available drugs.
As professionals in the field we need to be smart, creative and vigilant in order to meet the evolving challenges. Indeed we can only succeed in this task by working together, by actively exchanging ideas, by generously sharing resources and by constantly collaborating. We are certain that the Congress will be a superb opportunity for you to meet colleagues, share knowledge and create productive partnerships.
The purpose of ACIDER-TM 2012 is to promote all of these interactive activities among thousands of international experts and practitioners to the highest possible degree.
We are honored to recognize the collaboration of the Imo state government and the cooperation of our colleagues from societies representing individuals from countries in Africa and elsewhere with great enthusiasm.
The final program of the 1st ACIDER-TM 2012 will include 30 Plenary Lectures, more than 40 Symposia, 30 sessions devoted to oral presentation of selected abstracts, meet-the-expert sessions and poster sessions, tours and sightseeing.

International travel is undertaken by large, and ever increasing, numbers of people for professional, social, recreational and humanitarian purposes. More people travel greater distances and at greater speed than ever before, and this upward trend looks set to continue. Travellers are thus exposed to a variety of health risks in unfamiliar environments. Most such risks, however, can be minimized by suitable precautions taken before, during and after travel.
GWB Healthcare Travel Medicine includes Pre-Travel consultation and evaluation, contingency planning during travel, and post-travel follow-up and care. Key areas we consider in travel medicine are vaccination and the six I’s, which are Insects (the use of repellents, nets, medication); Ingestions (which has to do with the safety of water and food); Indiscretion (which involves the risk of travellers contacting HIV, sexually transmitted disease); Injuries (which has to do with accident avoidance and personal safety); Immersion (as in the case of Schistosomiasis contacted when one bathes in an infected river, pond etc); and Insurance coverage and services during travel, access to care..
The purpose of GWB Healthcare Travel Medicine Network is to promote interactive activities among thousands of international experts and practitioners to the highest possible degree.

An infectious disease crisis of global proportions is today threatening hard-won gains in health and life expectancy. Infectious diseases are now the world's biggest killer of children and young adults. They account for more than 13 million deaths a year - one in two deaths in developing countries.
No government or organization can on its own tackle a problem as vast as Infectious Diseases in developing countries. But many different organizations including charities and pharmaceutical companies could make a vital impact in particular areas. GWB healthcare proposed World Health Initiative (WHI) and ACT NOW CAMPAIGNS seek to establish an International Public Private Partnership (IP3) for the control and eradication of eleven major Infectious Diseases within the next seven years...
What we Shall do
GWB Center for Integrated Health Technology has initiated an all round campaign against Infectious Diseases globally. Our goal is to foster the attainment by all peoples, especially the poor and most vulnerable, the highest possible standards of health. Our guiding principles of are: "We can't do it alone, so we work in partnership with others." We can't do it all at once so we set priorities".
GWB Healthcare Infectious Diseases Initiatives will focus primarily on four key areas of infectious disease management. They are: Better people Education and Trainings on Prevention and management of Infectious Diseases, Developing Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits (RDTK) for each of our diseases of interest, Drug and Vaccine Donation (and Production) Partnerships and an Integrated Vector Control Initiative (VCI). We will build strong strategic alliances with government; pharmaceutical companies, Research institutions and the private sector in various Initiatives that will ensure that new therapeutics are brought into the market.
Our proposed IP3 for Infectious Diseases will be a distinctive feature of the global health care landscape. One of the many advantages of our proposed IP3 is that it will mobilize partners with different philosophies around one common goal. IP3 makes it possible to share risks and responsibility and it embodies the principle of ‘win-win’ solutions, therefore, creating benefits for all parties. Pharmaceutical companies know they have guaranteed sales of new products perhaps also a subsidy from public or donor funds. Countries know they are getting high quality products at affordable prices. The pharmaceutical companies bring its unique skills and expertise to bear in developing new products and getting them through the regulatory approval process.
