Government is spending more and more, and it is simply not making life better. Americans are not getting much value for their hard-earned tax dollars.
The record growth of government and increase in spending over the last five years has failed to make things better for hardworking Americans. In fact, things have gotten worse—particularly for the vulnerable populations that President Obama and his allies in Congress say that they intend to help. Washington is wasting taxpayer money on projects that only help special interests and their friends. People would be much better off if they could keep a greater percentage of their earnings instead of giving it up in higher taxes.
Washington should focus on reducing spending and making life better for Americans instead of focusing on big government spending programs that don’t work.
Bigger government is getting in the way of economic opportunity. The country needs solutions that increase upward mobility for every day Americans. Washington and Congress keep going back to the same old policies — but we see that extending emergency compensation insurance and raising the minimum wage is simply not getting Americans back to work. Congress needs to go back to the drawing board and the first step is stopping over-spending.
When & Where
Americans for Prosperity - Arkansas
Americans for Prosperity - Arkansas (AFP-AR) is committed to educating citizens about economic policy and mobilizing those citizens as advocates in the public policy process. AFP is an organization of grassroots leaders who engage citizens in the name of limited government and free markets on the local, state, and federal levels. AFP grassroots activists advocate for public policies that champion the principles of entrepreneurship and fiscal and regulatory restraint. To that end, AFP supports:
- Cutting taxes and government spending in order to halt the encroachment of government in the economic lives of citizens by fighting proposed tax increases and pointing out evidence of waste, fraud, and abuse.
- Removing unnecessary barriers to entrepreneurship and opportunity by sparking citizen involvement early in the regulatory process in order to reduce red tape.
- Restoring fairness to our judicial system.
