2014 marks the 20th anniversary of Berkeley Cohousing (just down the street from Impact Hub Berkeley), and a growing range of permanently affordable green homeowner and rental shared-living options in the East Bay.
As Bay Area market-rate homeownership and even rentals grow ever more out of reach of our young adults, elders, and families, how can we innovate to bring the tools of community to serve our needs and those of the many others in our shoes?
Let's spend Monday evening, May 12th, breaking bread together to celebrate, evaluate, and plan together, in community.
Share our experiences living in and seeking community, swap stories and trade tips. Get a taste of an (un)common meal together cooked by Alice Green, the 72-year-old Berkeley Cohousing founder who inspired a national lobbying campaign that can help keep community members from losing their homes. Map your personal path to sustainable living. Learn from Cohousing Coaches (and Impact Hub Berkeley Founding Members) Raines Cohen and Betsy Morris about who else is doing what, where, and how to get involved.
This event, which will run from 6:30-9 PM, is proudly part of Affordable Housing Week, organized by East Bay Housing Organizations. Admission is by donation, to help support Impact Hub and East Bay Cohousing's advocacy work; we also accept complementary currencies: BayBucks and Bay Area Community Exchange (BACE) hours. Free for Impact Hub Members and East Bay Cohousing Supporting Members. RSVP via EventBrite or www.ebcoho.org [free membership required]. For more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 510-842-6224.
If you cannot attend the event, please email us at least 1 day before the scheduled time of the event. It will help us plan the right amount of food.
