San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Six Friday mornings from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. -- February 7 & 21, March 7 & 21, and April 4 & 18
Students ages 10 and up who have prior sewing experience are invited to join Pannay Guigley for six sewing sessions especially designed for homeschoolers. For a homeschool series suited for beginners, check out this link.
We'll start by using scraps from previous projects to make lap quilts as we review basic machine-sewing skills and mechanics. Then Pannay will work with each student to plan and create an independent project, especially suited for each participant's interests and skills. The remaining sessions will be spent working on these projects so that students may tackle more advanced techniques over the course of the semester.
Students must have previous experience machine and hand-sewing. Rotary cutting experience is preferred but not required. Those who have participated in fashion camp, kids' machine-sewing classes, and/or previous homeschool sewing semesters at Sew Memphis should be ready for this next level of instruction.
Parents may sign a waiver and drop off their children or stick around and enjoy the fun.
Students must sign up for the entire series, and attendance at the first class is mandatory since the skills reviewed then will be needed for all other sessions. Bring your own machine or sign up early to rent one of four shop machines.
The cost of materials is not included in the series fee and ranges from $0 to $35 per class (and averages about $15 per class). Materials can be purchased at Sew Memphis at a 10% discount. The total cost for materials if purchased at Sew Memphis is between $80 and $90. If materials are to be purchased from Sew Memphis on the day of the class, students/parents will need to arrive before the class begins to make selections.
