Adopt-A-Mangrove Workshop - October 7, 2014
Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Please join Brevard Zoo and Florida Department of Environmental Protection' s Indian River Lagoon Shoreline Restoration Project for an Adopt-A-Mangrove workshop from 6:00 -7:00 p.m.!
The Adopt-A-Mangrove workshop will include a fieldtrip to the Indian River Lagoon exhibit in the Paws On section of Brevard Zoo. At the workshop, we’ll be discussing the importance of mangroves, the Indian River Lagoon, its ecology and health, its impact on the local economy, and what you can do to help this amazing ecosystem.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to take home a mangrove seedling to "foster" (with plant care tips!). Once returned, the plant will be used in shoreline restoration along the Indian River Lagoon to provide habitat for many native species, improve Lagoon water quality, and protect our shorelines from erosion.
Please visit our website for more information: www.brevardzoo.org/conservation/local.
The workshop will be held in Brevard Zoo's education building - please enter through the education gate, which is found to the right of the ticket booth. Conservation event signs will be posted to direct you.
