This course is held for 2 consecutive Saturdays 10:30am to 5:30pm on February 1st & 8th
In this intensive hands on computer workshop, longtime Photoshop instructor Natasha Calzatti will cut through the complexity in Photoshop and help you to master it as a photographic tool. Natasha will show you the fundamentals of Photoshop and the power of Adobe Bridge. If you stumble around Photoshop like you learned to type (hunting and pecking) then take this opportunity to re-learn your fundamentals for this complex program that has replaced the chemical darkroom.
• Basic concept of color management. Starting with the big question: “How do I make my prints match the image on my monitor?” This introduction will help you understand the ways in which Adobe Photoshop interprets and manages color.
• Adobe Bridge, the next-generation File Browser, where you can process multiple camera raw images at once, resize, rate, and label thumbnails; quickly review images in Slideshow mode, and search metadata.
• Adobe Camera Raw processing, enjoy automatic adjustments of exposure, shadows, and brightness and contrast; and much more.
• Image Manipulation, altering the image size. How should you save your file and why?(TIFF,PSD,JPEG etc…)
Retouching techniques with Content-Aware tools, healing, clone, patch tools.
Introduction to layers and masks, color corrections using adjustment layers, creating selections. As well as montage techniques, cropping, rotation, sharpening, and black & white conversion from color.
Students will be given homework, as a final assignment each student will be making a 13”x19” color or black and white print, using the Epson 4900 or Canon Pro 1 printer.
This class takes place in our state of the art computer lab where each student is assigned a 27-inch iMac 2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 equipped with an Intuos graphics tablet. You do not need to bring a laptop.

Student Quote: "The Adobe Photoshop for Photographers, Level One class taught by Natasha Calzatti was much more than I expected. I’m a full time commercial photographer and to be honest, I stumble around in Photoshop doing some basic things. But I decided it was time to learn the fundamentals and see how many bad habits I had developed over the years.. . . Natasha was very informative, a great communicator and obviously knows her Photoshop. Right out of the box we were learning about the power of Adobe Bridge- things I never knew Bridge could do. By the end of the first class we had learned about; setting the white and black points in an image using levels, working with the patch tool, spot healing brush and proper layer order. . . . If you’re a photographer and think you know enough Photoshop to get by, I recommend you start at the beginning and learn the proper ways to work in this extremely deep program." - Jim Wimberg
"This was a great class. Natasha was an amazing instructor. I learned so much practical information that I can apply immediately to my workflow. She was very thorough in covering all of the functions available in Lightroom. I would highly recommend this class and others with this instructor. Thanks and keep up the good work!" - Carolyn Ozimok
"I thought the class was first-rate and the teacher was spectacular… I plan to take several more of your courses, and could not be more satisfied with my experience." - Chris Wilkinson
