The Mountain States office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) will host its 33rd Annual Governor’s Holocaust Remembrance Program on May 1, 2014, from 6-7:30 PM in Denver, CO.
The 2014 featured speaker will be Thomas Buergenthal, a Holocaust survivor who went on to serve as the American Judge on the International Court of Justice and as a Judge and President of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Judge Buergenthal has held a number of other distinguished posts in the legal world and is the author of A Lucky Child: A Memoir of Surviving Auschwitz as a Young Boy.
The program will begin with a candle-lighting ceremony memorializing Holocaust victims and honoring Holocaust survivors, and it has traditionally featured a special ‘Message to Colorado’ from the Governor.
When & Where
The Mountain States Regional Office has been fulfilling the Anti-Defamation League’s mission “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people…to secure justice and fair treatment to all,” in Colorado and Wyoming for the past 70 years. We do this by confronting anti-Semitism; fighting for the separation of church and state; standing up for all victims of discrimination; shining the light on hate groups; advocating for Israel and peace in the Middle East; training teachers, students and law enforcement officers, educating about the Holocaust; fighting for religious freedom; supporting stronger hate crimes legislation; speaking out against bigotry; promoting interfaith dialogue; protecting Jewish institutions; and preserving democratic values.
