Acting Unlimited presents SHE KILLS MONSTERS
Acting Unlimited and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette are proud to present as part of their joint summer schedule SHE KILLS MONSTERS by Qui Nguyen.
A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, SHE KILLS MONSTERS tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed young playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
SHE KILLS MONSTERS will be presented at the Burke Theatre in Burke-Hawthorne Hall on the UL campus, opening Thursday, August 15th at 7:30 pm. The show will run on Thursday (August 15), Saturday (August 17), Thursday (August 22) and Saturday (August 24) at 7:30 pm.
All tickets are $10.

NOTE: Adult language and situations
No less impressive, however, are the play’s depictions of the more conventional wounds of adolescence, the ones that come from loving and not being loved in return. The whole enterprise is kind of dopey and kind of invigorating and kind of remarkable. It will slash and shapeshift its way into your heart.

There are a few detours into the juvenile...but "She Kills Monsters," which delivers exactly what it promises, is generally a blast

That’s the beauty of ...“She Kills Monsters”: It does transcend stereotype, and it keeps you guessing till the end.
