The dilemma of whether to scale or not to scale will eventually confront every organization seeking social impact – be they for-profit, hybrid, non-profit, or public sector.  Join us to learn how leading organizations are creatively navigating this dilemma.  

Bringing together diverse perspectives and experiences, we will explore strategies for maximizing impact while considering questions of breadth, depth, reach, and size of the organization and its offerings.  


Our Keynote Speaker has made some exciting transitions in her life! Until recently, Nikki Silvestri (formerly Nikki Henderson) was the Executive Director of People's Grocery, a non-profit based in West Oakland that advocates for local, nutritional, and globally healthy food access. This month Nikki started a new position as the Executive Director of Green For Allan Oakland-based non-profit working for environmental sustainability. Prior to People’s Grocery, Silvestri co-founded Live Real in 2009. Live Real is a national collaborative of food movement organizations committed to strengthening and expanding the youth food movement in the United States. Among her many business endeavors, Silvestri has worked closely with Van Jones and Phaedra Ellis Lamkins at Green for All, fighting for a green economy strong enough to lift people out of poverty. She was also an active member of Slow Food USA, in Brooklyn, NY, where President Josh Viertel came to regard her as an “extraordinary leader with a vision for how food and urban farming can be tools of empowerment." Silvestri has a Master’s Degree in African American Studies from UCLA, and is originally from Los Angeles, CA. Watch one of her TED talks here.
