Program Description: Talent management and succession planning are important to the successful operation of every organization. Together, they constitute a systematic process for preparing people to meet an organization’s needs for talent over time. They are designed to ensure the continued effective performance of an organization by developing employees at all levels, while paying particular attention to the identification and training of high-potential candidates for managerial or leadership positions.  

Talent management and success planning enable an organization to meet its needs for leadership by assessing the competencies required for key positions, nurturing and developing the talents needed to fill those positions, and implementing procedures and protocols for managerial and leadership replacement when it becomes necessary.


Phillip S. Schaengold, J.D., MBA, FACHE                                           President, Tripetia, LLC

Phil is the President of Tripetia, LLC, a consulting practice specializing in the turnaround and restructuring of healthcare organizations. He has more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, primarily at academic medical centers and safety-net hospitals in not-for-profit, public and investor-owned settings. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the Ohio Bar and the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution.


Jon Cecil, FACHE                 Chief Human Resources Officer, Lee Memorial Health System Jon has more than 40 years of service with the LMHS in Operations and Human Resources. With the growth of LMHS, Jon has been involved in many clinical, facility, and medical acquisitions in the area. LMHS has almost 11,000 employees, 300 employed physicians, and 4500 volunteers in Lee County and Southwest Florida.

Michael Crowder                 Director of Talent Acquisition, Health Management Associates HMA is a network of 72 hospitals across the southeastern US. In his 25-year career, Michael has worked in several industries and in several different countries – all within the talent sourcing, selection, and development space. Most recently, Michael lead a company initiative to restructure executive selection at Health Management Associates for hospital CEO, COO, CFO, and CNO positions

Phillip C. Dutcher, FACHE                              COO, Naples Community Healthcare System  Phil has been COO at NCH since 2007. Prior to coming to NCH, Phil spent 20 years at Hurley Medical Center where he served as CEO from 1981-1995. In 1995, Phil moved to West Palm Beach, FL, where he was CEO of the Intracoastal Health System (Good Samaritan and St. Mary’s Medical Centers) until 2000. He then became Sr. Vice President for Business Development at Rendina Companies, one of the nation’s largest medical real estate development companies based in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Jen Storch, MHA            Sr. Manager of Ambulatory Services, Sarasota Memorial Hospital Jen began her career in healthcare as an administrative fellow with the Healthcare System in 2007 after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Management and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of Florida. A part of Sarasota Memorial's leadership development program through their Fellowship, Jen has expanded her management skills and now oversees daily operations of the System’s three Urgent Care Centers as well as two comprehensive outpatient testing facilities and a Student Health Center at a local college. 



This program has been developed and is presented locally by the Western Florida Chapter of ACHE.  The American College of Healthcare Executives has approved 1.5 Face-to-Face  (formerly Category 1) credit hours for this program.
