Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in the Treatment of Substance Abuse
SPEAKER: Ali Zandi, Psy.D., LMFT
The objective of the training is to introduce attending clinicians to ACT theory, skills, and interventions applicable to populations presenting with substance abuse and mental health disorders. Participants will learn:
• Core theoretical foundations of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
• How to conceptualize substance abuse and other mental health disorders with the ACT treatment model
• How to effectively implement ACT interventions in clinical work.
About The Speaker
Dr. Ali Zandi is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist. He serves as the Program Director for Alternative Options Counseling Center, which offers adult and adolescent IOP/PHP services for Substance Abuse, Mental Health, and Eating Disorders. Dr. Zandi also keeps a private practice in Huntington Beach. He enjoys working with substance abuse disorders, mood disorders, identity development, and trauma. In his free time, Dr. Zandi enjoys playing basketball, electric guitar, and writing.
