This event is graciously hosted at Flames Eatery & Bar in Downtown San Jose, set to start at 6:30pm and like all fairy tales ends by the stroke of midnight! A Wish Come True Masquerade Ball is a black tie event featuring a three-course meal, cash bar, silent auction, raffle and live entertainment. Don't forget to wear your masks to this formal affair!
Live performances of the evening will consist of:
Bio: Since he decided to pursue music full time in January of 2012, Peter has won Kollaboration SF, shared the stage with Matt Wertz, Clara C and David Choi and 3 time Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding. He has also performed at The Sundance Film Festival and will be performing during SXSW.
Pride of the Pacific Islands
Bio: Our mission is to spread the 'Island Culture' at San Jose State University and to the surrounding communities. Throughout the year, we share and teach island cultural dances from Hawaii, Tahiti, Tonga, Samoa, New Zealand and Fiji to students of SJSU and anyone interested. Every Spring semester, we showcase the dances we've learned at our annual Lu’au and share the spirit of Aloha to our family, friends and community.
Bio: Tim Atlas is a singer-songwriter from San Jose, California. He has been playing as a solo artist for less than a year now. Despite his short background as a singer, he has worked with several musicians and bands as a producer, songwriter & guitarist, touring the West Coast as well as a few dates in the East in New York, New Jersey & Ohio. Be on the lookout for an acoustic EP, to be released in the coming months. You can find Tim Atlas online on YouTube, Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook.
SJSU Dancesport Team
Brandon Hoang and Laura Vasquez
Bio: Joining the SJSU Dancesport Team in Fall of 2012, Brandon and Laura have been dancing together for only a few months, but their bright optimism and fun-loving energy can be seen in their partnership. Having just participated in their first competition in the Latin category this year, they are ready to show off all that they have learned. They will be performing a fun and flirty Cha Cha.
Devin Davis and Risha Rose
Bio: Devin has just joined the SJSU Dancesport Team this spring, but has shown his devotion and interest in Latin dance styles for many months prior. Risha Rose joined the SJSU Dancesport Team in Fall of 2012, but has had a strong background and years of previous experience in other dance styles. Devin and Risha have been dancing together for only a few months, but their drive to improve and their success in their first competition in the Latin dance styles have transformed their new partnership into a strong one. They will be performing a romantic Rumba.
Ryan Santos and Mirabel Miscala
Bio: Ryan and Mirabel met in a swing dancing class in 2009 and have been strong partners ever since. Joining the SJSU Dancesport Team and competing in a diverse range of ballroom and latin styles over the past 3-4 years, their quirky partnership and their energy can be seen from their Lindy Hop performances. They will be performing a fun swing routine.
Richard Tsai and Risha Rose
Bio: Having learned ballroom only 1 year ago and becoming the new president of SJSU Dancesport this year, Richard Tsai has quickly transitioned from a newcomer to the dancesport world to becoming a fierce and elegant presence on the dance floor. With partner Risha Rose, who has had previous years of dance experience in other styles, they have won numerous ballroom competitions in only a short amount of time. Richard and Risha will be performing a fiery Tango. After their performances, the members of SJSU Dancesport will be providing a Nightclub Two-Step lesson for the entire audience.
Bio: I know people don’t usually write their own biographies, but who better to fill you in about myself than…well, myself. For starters, my real name is Alex Dale Kato. I was born in Tokyo, adopted and raised in sunny California. I’ve grown up to be a pretty well-rounded dude and I’m usually open to trying new things. Growing up, one thing has always remained true to me and that’s my passion for music. The joy, the laughter and the overall emotion that music can create has always amazed me. I’ve always felt that music is one of the most powerful and captivating aspects of life; it’s something that people can sing & dance to, as well as come together with, all as a result of an arrangement of brilliant sounds & catchy tunes. In short, it’s something that nothing else in this universe could achieve.
Can't make the event but want to help out? We accept donations!
