MOTHER LOVE: A workshop for Mothers, Caregivers, & Women
The Freyja Project
Giving back to yourself as a mother or caregiver can be a difficult and sometimes entirely neglected practice. This Mother’s Day workshop is the most opportune moment to hit the pause button and turn all of that nurturing inward. We will work slowly and deliberately to turn our practice of giving outward to a practice of receiving and inflow. This class will incorporate meditation and chants to the Goddess in her different names and attributes as Mother. We’ll take our meditation through a nourishing vinyasa practice and complete our process with a mandala meditation where we will draw a personal mandala as a symbol of receiving the Mother’s love and remembering to draw from that source to care for our loved ones.
Carolyn fell in love with yoga during her years training as a professional dancer. Yoga helped her to reconnect with the spirit of movement at a moment when her dance career was becoming clouded with competition and ego. When she was introduced to the Jivamukti method in 2004 she felt she'd found a method to combine her experience of dance and yoga.
Informed by her BFA in Dance, her 800+ combined hours of certifications from various schools including Prana Flow Yoga and Jivamukti Yoga, Carolyn’s classes reflect her extensive knowledge of the body combined with her playful, dance-like sequences and devotional intention. She has been teaching yoga since 2002 and remains devoted to her teachers Sharon Gannon and David Life by teaching and practicing for the happiness and freedom of all beings. She draws inspiration from the many teachers she’s been blessed to study with including Alanna Kaivalya, Shannon Paige and Shiva Rea.
In 2011 Carolyn expanded her passion for yoga by opening Studio Bija in Paonia, Colorado where she maintains a regular teaching schedule. When she’s not teaching in Paonia she can be found offering classes throughout Colorado. Her teachings have been sought to be included in the teacher training courses of Warrior Academy Yoga, Vital Yoga, and Yoga for the Peaceful. She is honored to be presenting at the Wanderlust Yoga Festival in Aspen-Snowmass this summer as well as assisting at the Telluride Yoga Festival for her second year.
As an expansion of her yoga practice, Carolyn has embarked on a Zero Waste lifestyle. Her experience and insights into this endeavor have sparked great interest leading to public talks and an interview on KVNF public radio.
Her greatest insight from her 15+ years of practice is the revelation that we are all deeply interconnected and more powerful than measure!
