A Splendid Death
Adapted and Directed by Maureen Huskey from Splendid's by Jean Genet
Crafted as a rite of passage, A Splendid Death transforms the act of live theater while celebrating the life of one of the most provocative thinkers of our time. Set in the late 1930s, this adaptation of Jean Genet’s Splendid’s tells the story of seven gangsters who are surrounded by police in a hotel. Within the production, director Maureen Huskey probes the deeper layers and complex questions that Genet poses about life, death, and desire through the insertion of Genet as a character within his own play, weaving together a tale of criminality and power.
