Celebrate the weekend a day early and join us for our new installment of “A Singer’s Showcase” to occur the third Thursday of the month on Joe’s heated patio. Mohr Music presents the event featuring invited songwriters and musicians, on a changing bill monthly.
This month’s debut event on June 21st includes Duane Neillson, Craig Richey, Christine Mourad, Jackie Brand, Norman Jones, Chris O'Brien, and others.
Duane Neillson is a singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, producer, and engineer who has composed for several TV shows including “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Dr. Phil,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Insider,” “Rachael Ray,” “The Doctors” and more.
A native of North Carolina, Craig Richey received his musical training at the North Carolina School of the Arts, the St. Louis Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard School. After graduating from Juilliard, Craig turned his attention to singing and songwriting, producing, and film composing. As a songwriter, Craig has had songs appear in Lovely and Amazing, Friends with Money, The King of Kong, Greenlit, and Answers To Nothing.
Christine Mourad trained at New York University’s Graduate Acting program as an actor and singer, and has appeared in Lovely and Amazing, and Friends With Money. Her songs have been heard been heard in Friends with Money and Jesus’ Son, and in two seasons of the FX hit show, “DIRT”.
Jackie Brand is a very successful violinist in Los Angeles having played with artists such as Elvis Costello, Queen Latifah and Keyshia Cole. Jackie has appeared on numerous top film scores including Avatar, Contagion and The Bourne Supremacy.
Norm Jones is the co-founder and creative force behind The Rhythm Child Network (www.rhythmchild.net), an LA based company that combines the use of group rhythm and soul-stirring music to help promote drumming and creativity for kids. An accomplished songwriter and professional percussionist, Norm encourages creative expression and cultural exploration through drum circle workshops, interactive music education classes and family concerts.
Chris O’Brien’s Lighthouse became a bestselling singer/songwriter album on iTunes, peaking at #5. The album was also featured on iTunes Best Albums of 2007 compilation. For an added bonus actress Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother”) included O’Brien’s song “Ocean Stone” on her iTunes celebrity playlist. O’Brien was nominated for a coveted Boston Music Award as well as being named WUMB’s “New Artist of the Year”. A captivating and engaging performer, O’Brien’s youth belies his maturity as a songwriter and vocalist.
