A Swedish woman in our extended circle in Orange County, Etel Barborka, and her 20 year old son Brock have fallen ill with ME, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. ME, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, is a chronic neurological disease whose symptoms vary greatly from person to person. Most people become ill in connection with an infection such as mononucleosis, giardia, the flu, and in a few cases from immunizations. Since Brock became ill, he has spent almost 5 years in bed in a dark room. He lost his voice at an early stage of the disease and now only communicates by whispering.
Below is a youtube link with a video of Brock's doctor, Brock himself and more information:
There is ongoing research for the disease in Sweden and other places in the world however the big problem is lack of funding and information. A day of education has been arranged for the members of the Swedish parliament, who allocate research grants as well as funding for patients' care which will take place on October 16th, 2013. OUR GOAL is to help fund this day of education in Sweden.
Please join us in a magical evening on the lake to help us reach our goal.
