A Look into the Richmond Region's Bike Future
Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Partnership for Smarter Growth and Bike Walk RVA (a program of the Sports Backers) will host "A Look into the Richmond Region's Bike Future" on Thursday, September 26, from 5:30 to 8 PM, at the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond.
This educational, interactive forum follows a fact-finding day trip to Arlington, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., that took place on June 25, organized by Bike Walk RVA. Over 50 of the Richmond region's elected officials, city and county staff, and local walking and biking advocates toured the area to experience first-hand the pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure that Arlington and D.C. have developed over the past several years, and to hear directly from the planners and officials who were responsible for those changes. During "A Look into the Richmond Region's Bike Future," attendees will learn about those improvements from keynote speaker Jim Sebastian, Manager of the Active Transportation Branch of the Washington, D.C., Department of Transportation, as well as a panel of guest speakers that will provide updates on bicycle and pedestrian planning in the Richmond region. We'll also watch a short documentary film showing the highlights of Bike Walk RVA's trip.
Check-in and an informational open house featuring the City of Richmond's Bike Master Plan begin at 5:30 PM, and will continue 8 - 8:30 PM. Welcome and presentations will begin at 6 PM.
Light refreshments will be served.
