From the Monterey County Weekly:
The ancient Roman poet Horace might be best remembered for his raunchy sexual poems, but he also offered up some sage advice on the point of writing it: “to educate and delight.” It's in that spirit that creatorsoffer up art for art's sake in Women Who Write, modeled after a classic literary salon. This celebration of creativity has been hailed as a much-needed reprieve from an increasingly ironic, fast-paced world of artistic output. Readers and performers include include Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Jane Smiley, Korel Tunador of the Goo Goo Dolls and comic actress Mo Gaffney. They'll share works-in-progress, then writer/actress/producer Vicki Abelson leads a discussion—audience included— where works can leave the page and take on a personal meaning.

“Women Who Write is like one of the great salons of the past, where writers read their work up close and personal with an audience of smart, intelligent women. There is a great feeling of togetherness and community that only a live event can bring.” Carol Leifer When You Lie About Your Age, The Terrorists Win

“There's something in the air in this modern day salon that speaks to where we are as a collective that is yearning for one on one connection in a hybrid world filled with twitters, tweets and an occasional twizzler.  I love this salon.......and the big share afterwards.” Andrea Buchanan Note to Self

“I’d never met Vicki, but knew she was very smart and cool. I’d never read from my book, except on television. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I never expected to be moved to my very core. I never expected to cry. Nor did I expect to find a deeply common ground, a place to fellowship with other women, to share ideas, hopes and emotions. But that’s exactly what happened. What Vicki has started is truly a force to be reckoned with!!!!” MacKenzie Phillips High on Arrival
