Jack and Jill of America Orange County Chapter

invites you to a

Jazz Brunch

An afternoon of live music, delicious food and socializing

all  in a effort to raise funds for

Sickle Cell Foundation of Orange County

and

Jack and Jill of America Foundation

Sickle Cell  Foundation of Orange County

Sickle cell disease (SCD) affects the health of some 50,000 to 60,000 Americans, most of whom are African American. An additional two million African Americans are carriers of the sickle-cell trait. Though the trait usually does not have clinical symptoms, it is very important in the genetic transmission of Sickle-cell disease.

The need for public awareness for SCD is so urgently clear: without the serious collaborative effort of education and support, those affected with SCD have no real chance of living a long and healthy life.

The Sickle Cell Foundation of Orange County (SCFOC) was founded in 2006, by Starlerra Simmons. SCFOC is commited to increasing awareness of SCD through community based educational seminars and workshops that focus on the management of the disease.
