Massimo to Host Family FUNdraiser for Slow Food UK
Chef Massimo Riccioli and Slow Food UK’s CEO Catherine Gazzoli will be hosting a fun afternoon of food tastings, storytelling, drawing and entertainment on Saturday 25th February, to raise funds for Slow Food UK.
The family fundraiser will take place at Massimo Restaurant & Oyster Bar from midday until 3pm on Saturday 25th February 2012; tickets will cost £20 for adults and £10 for children, with the under-5s going free. All monies raised will go towards Slow Food UK, a grassroots movement that operates a host of educational projects including Slow Food Baby, Slow Food Kids (Taste Adventure), Slow Food on Campus, Slow Food Wisdom, the Ark of Taste and the Chef Alliance, all with the aim to educate and raise awareness about sustainability and social justice issues surrounding the food we eat.
Says Massimo Riccioli; “I have always shared my principles with Slow Food and I strongly supported the movement when I lived in Rome. So I am delighted to now be working with them here in London. We share the same values of healthy eating and using fresh simple ingredients and I hope that in hosting this Family fundraiser, I will have the chance to share my simple ways of combining these ingredients to make fabulous food.”
Says Catherine Gazzoli; “We’re delighted to be working with chef Massimo Riccioli and I am incredibly grateful for the time and energy he devotes to Slow Food UK. I’m really looking forward to hosting this event with him and the monies raised will help us to continue the invaluable work we carry out with our members all around the country.”
For this event the award winning David Collins designed restaurant will allow families to interact with food and to watch demos carried out by chef Massimo and his team, and Slow Food’s Taste Adventure will take children on an exciting journey through the five senses and the role that they play in our enjoyment of food. The focus will be on key ingredients such as freshly baked bread, extra virgin olive oil, pasta, vegetables and how they can be combined to create the simplest, yet flavorsome dishes. Drawing and story telling activities will also run throughout the event and food and drink will be served.
