A Fall Tasting of Eastern Europe

Come join Old World Food Truck’s Pop-Up at La Victoria Bakery and Café on Wednesday,, November 9th for a special meal featuring classic dishes from Askenazi, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian and Lithuanian food traditions. The meal will offer a unique opportunity for all of us to explore together the region’s intriguing flavors and dishes, all using vegetables and fruits in season, and local ingredients. We can’t wait to cook this!
From the Askennazim – The Jewish Nation
The staple of the Sabbath meal for East European’s Jews: A poached and chilled fish
cake, accompanied with traditional beet horseradish sauce, pickled fall vegetable, and fresh dill
To the Ukraine
Small dumplings of winter squash and fall herbs accompanied by fried leeks, toasted walnuts and caraway sour cream
West to Poland
Salt brined cabbage leaves stuffed with mixed wild mushroom, bacon and rice, served over a spiced tomato sauce
From Russia with love
воловий хвост (Oxtail)
Spiced oxtails over buckwheat, with roasted kohlrabi, celery root, and rutabaga garnished with horseradish crème and dill
Finish with Lithuania
Baltic style doughnuts stuffed with vanilla-poppy seed custard, accompanied by candied cranberries
Seats are $45 (includes tax)
Meal begins at 7:30, open for seating at 7:15
This is a bring your own beverage event (no corkage charge though!)
