Muslims for Progressive Values

hosted by

the MPV- Los Angeles Team

Calling all old friends and new!

Join us for a night to remember at an "Arabian Nights meets Modern Chic" party at Lisa's house! We will begin the evening with a few ice breakers.  This will be a fun time for all old and new faces to meet. Next, for those who want to pray we will conduct maghrib and then enjoy a middle eastern sunset dinner outdoors.  As the night continues, prepare yourselves for hookah, desert, and major announcements about MPV local and national affairs.  It will all end with the group celebrating into the late night hours dancing the night away. This is one event you don't want to miss!

p.s. At MPV, we pride ourselves in making sure that all new friends are cared for and enjoy their time from the moment they walk through the doors until the moment they leave. If you are new to MPV, welcome, and get ready to have an awesome time!

Muslims for Progressive Values

MISSION:

Muslims for Progressive Values (MPV) is the only American movement that advocates for egalitarian expressions of Islam, for women, and for LGBTQI rights. MPV does this by creating inclusive spaces for religious discourse, the arts and social activism.

VISION:

MPV envisions Islam and an Islamic community that embodies the ten principles of MPV. Further, MPV envisions a future where Islam is understood as a source of dignity, justice, compassion and love for all humanity and the world.

WHAT WE DO:

MPV establishes and nurtures vibrant progressive Muslim communities. We do this by creating opportunities for religious discourse, volunteer and community activities, and cultural events bringing together the arts, spirituality and social activism.

MPV is a progressive Muslim voice on contemporary issues. We voice our perspectives by participating in civil discourse, engaging with the media and government entities, and by partnering with both Muslim and non-Muslim progressive organizations.

MPV promotes theologically-sound frameworks for Islamic liberalism. We seek to reinvigorate the Islamic tradition of ijtihad (critical engagement and interpretation of sacred texts) and intellectual discourse. We do this by collaborating with religious scholars and developing position papers on theological issues that are accessible to a wide audience.
