A College for Every Student: Beyond Disabled Student Services

Artistic? Studious? Social? Free-spirited? Test-averse? Hands-on? While all colleges offer some level of support for students with learning differences, there are colleges that offer unique environments for students who might thrive in non-traditional settings. This presentation will provide an overview of colleges that “fit” students who learn differently.
Elizabeth A. Stone, Ph.D.
Dr. Stone is an educational consultant who supports students of all abilities as they navigate the college admission process. She has spent her entire career in the college environment, and holds a Certificate in College Admissions Counseling. Dr. Stone works individually with students as early as their sophomore year in high school, guiding them through course selection, SAT preparation, college selection, completing college applications and writing college application essays.

Morrissey-Compton Educational Center, Inc.
The Morrissey-Compton Educational Center, Inc. is a nonprofit, private corporation founded in 1982 by Dr. Patricia Morrissey and Dr. Carolyn Compton. Dr. John Brentar is the Executive Director. The agency provides both diagnostic and treatment services for children and adults with learning disabilities, as well as professional consultation to agencies and community organizations.
It is the mission of Morrissey-Compton Educational Center to enable children and adults with learning disabilities and other school-related difficulties to achieve their goals by providing the highest quality diagnostic and intervention services in a supportive environment.
