Has your dog ever heard Chopin performed live? Have you and your dog ever listened to Bach together in a concert setting? Share a deeply satisfying musical experience with your dog!

The dogs (and their people) will socialize outside in the beautiful grassy area behind Pasta Moon at 2:30, before the concert. Pasta Moon will provide delicious appetizers for the people. And there will be plenty of treats for your pooch as well.

At 3:30 the two- and four-leggeds will gather around the grand piano, inside Pasta Moon's Music Box lounge. The show starts with an explanation and demonstration of the calming effects of music on dogs by the co-founder of Through a Dogs' Ear, music clinically demonstrated to calm the canine nervous system. Following this will be a concert to delight both the people and their dogs! Pawtographed copies of the Through a Dog's Ear CD's will be available at a meet and greet with Lisa following the concert.

Dogs are welcome to attend that adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Please register your dogs when you register the number of people attending. There is a limited space for 30 dogs.
  2. Dogs must be on leash (no retractable leashes please).
  3. Please arrive by 2:30 to allow time for your dog to meet other dogs in attendance in the Pasta Moon outdoor grounds before entering for the concert.
  4. Please make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise before the concert.
  5. Dogs with a history of aggression to other dogs or people should be left at home.
  6. Please allow plenty of space between dogs when seated for the concert. When the dogs lie down by your side, please don’t allow them to face each other.

If we see single orders for a dog without a person, they will be cancelled.

Through a Dog's Ear

Lisa Spector, Through a Dog's Ear Co-Founder

Lisa Spector is a concert pianist, Juilliard graduate, and canine music expert. By combining her passion for music with her love of dogs, she co-created Through a Dog's Ear, the only music clinically demonstrated to relieve anxiety issues in dogs.

Following a howling succcess of a Canine Classical Concert at Cypress Inn in Carmel, Lisa now brings the event to her hometown of Half Moon Bay.

As co-founder of Through a Dog’s Ear and the pianist on the music series, she has appeared on the CBS Early Show, Martha Stewart Living Radio, and Victoria Stilwell’s Positively podcast. In early 2012, Through a Dog’s Ear was featured on Good Morning America and their inaugural CD, Music to Calm your Canine Companion Vol. 1, reached Billboard’s Classical Top 20 Chart.

As a concert pianist, Lisa has won first prizes in Chopin competitions in New York and Los Angeles and has performed in China, Poland, Spain, France, Italy and throughout the U.S.

Spector heads the Through a Dog’s EarMusic in Shelters” program, a project inspired by her volunteer work in shelters. Her piano playing is currently played in over 1,500 shelters worldwide, where it is helping increase adoption rates. In addition to calming the dogs, it helps create a quieter atmosphere, encouraging visitors to stay longer and adoption rates to increase. The donated music is also sent home with adopters and their new forever dogs.

A former puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind, she shares her home and her heart in the San Francisco Bay Area with two “career change” dogs from Guide Dogs ~ Sanchez and Gina. Lisa and Gina can often be found at agility trials on weekends.
