Vocals, Guitar, Bodhran
North Carolina native, Jennifer Licko, has been acquiring fans all over the world with her lilting Celtic voice that began right here in North Carolina where many Celts settled and influenced the land of her origin. Licko masterfully combines the music from her American roots, Bluegrass and Country music; to those of her ancestor's, traditional Celtic music. She nurtured her passion for Irish music and culture while living and performing in Ireland for many years. She is an accomplished Scottish Highland dancer who spent numerous years in Scotland studying Scottish Gaelic as well as the history of Scottish folk music. Jennifer has performed at some of the largest Celtic festivals throughout the United States and has also been very active in promoting Celtic music and dance through educational programs for students across the US. Outside of the US, she has also performed in Holland, Italy, Canada, Argentina, the Caribbean and Brazil. Licko is a recording artist with five albums to her credit.
Patsy O’Brien - Vocals, Guitar, Banjo
Born in Co. Cork, Patsy began performing his genre-hopping, blues and jazz influenced originals in clubs throughout Ireland. He then took his music to the United States where his songs began to win awards and acclaim, including a feature on NPR’s All Songs Considered. But the pull of working with others was great and he began sitting in on sessions at St Louis’ famous session pub, McGurk’s. It was only a matter of time before word spread throughout the Irish music scene about Patsy’s guitar mastery. He has since worked with some of the most respected players in Irish Music including fiddle player Eileen Ivers and piping legend Paddy Keenan. He has performed with The Cathie Ryan Band for the past five years.Patsy’s guitar playing moves from driving rhythm to delicate and melodic finger picking. Of the range of emotion he draws from the guitar, The New Haven Advocate writes, “His music is stomping and ocean breezy – sure footed and fragile …”
Zack Kline -Fiddle
Zack Kline is a fiddler at ease in many styles, from Appalachian tunes to Bach and works these varied influences into an original sound. Rick Mason of the City Pages writes, “Zack Kline’s fiddle…[imitates] Grappelli here, Heifetz there, Vassar Clements over there.” The Cedar Cultural Center described him last year as, “Minnesota’s brightest young fiddle talent.” One of Zack’s composition Fiddler’s World, showcasing his unique “slam hitting technique,” has been featured on NPR’s Open Mic as well as Bowed Radio. If he were compelled to make up a sound bite for his music, it might be “bluegrassical.” His background reflects this– Zack studied a bit with Mark O’Connor and other Nashville fiddlers and completed his studies at Macalester College, with a final recital that included Pagannini, Ysaye’s Ballade, Bach’s D minor Partita and lots of original material.
