For many years, the State of Hawaii has pursued a plan to establish a Native Hawaiian sovereign government. But with the failure of the Akaka Bill, proponents have made it clear that they are prepared to pursue their goals by any means--regardless of the will of the people of Hawaii.
That threat is now a reality.
Last month, the state of Hawaii (via the Office of Hawaiian Affairs) launched a racially discriminatory election process that represents their end-run around Congress and the Akaka Bill. The purpose of the election is to select delegates to a conference (a "Constitutional Convention" in their words) that is intended to establish a sovereign Native Hawaiian government.
That's right, this is an effort to establish a race-based government in Hawaii. Our state officials and Congressional delegation have already appealed to President Obama to acknowledge a sovereign Native Hawaiian government. The unconstitutionality of such a move has never inhibited them before, and they clearly believe that state machinations coupled with Executive action will accomplish what they could not achieve through open, legislative means.
Please join us on Monday April 21st to learn more about the State's stealth sovereignty plan. Dr. Akina will present a complete briefing on the isssue and Grassroot Institute's plans for action. Experts will join by teleconference, including Professor Gail Heriot of the US Commission on Civil Rights and Washington, DC and others.
We urge all Grassroot members and friends to be there for this essential update and announcement of Grassroot's plan of action to expose this unconstitutional stratagem.
