A Breath of Fresh Air: Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing and CQRS
Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 5:00 PM (CEST)
Software complexity is accelerating. But our brains’ natural capability for handling complexity is not.
This means we have to be smarter about how we design and analyse complex software. Simultaneously, performance and throughput requirements are getting harder to meet as the number of users and amount of information increases.
The presentation will give you insight into a combination of technological and mental principles for designing systems that are easier to operate, have higher reliability and have better tolerance for faults than ordinary n-tier systems.
By loading your guns with Domain Driven Design and Event Sourcing you can unit test behaviour rather than shape and create succinct domain models driven by task-based UIs that allow you to manage, or even master, the complexity of software.
Then, with CQRS, this I will show how the separation of reads from writes allow for lower total cost of ownership on your applications, while giving you a straight-forward path to both cloud and occasionally connected clients such as smart-phones/slates based on Android-, WP7 or iOS.
This and much more, in a presentation aimed to inspire you to challenge the status-quo.
