Austin E. Thompson, Jr. was born in the village of Lodge, Georgetown, Republic of Guyana (formerly British Guiana), South America, and migrated to the United States in 1977. He spent 15 years in Brooklyn (East New York and Flatbush), New York, before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia in 1992. Austin now resides in Lawrenceville, Georgia. In addition to overseeing a management consulting business, Austin is an Adjunct Professor at Shorter University (formerly Shorter College).
Thompson holds membership in the Project Management Institute (PMI), and is a member of the Atlanta and Southern Caribbean Chapters, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA).
