The Washington Middle School for Girls' mission statement:
Our mission is rooted in the heritage of three courageous women and educators: Mary McLeod Bethune, Cornelia Connelly, and Claudine Thevenet. In their spirit, The Washington Middle School for Girls provides a caring and safe environment for young girls who are living in an under-served urban area and are at risk of leaving school prematurely. The Washington Middle School for Girls offers a solid and holistic education in the Catholic educational tradition, featuring intellectual challenge, respect for diversity, and support for the spiritual, social and emotional growth of each student.

Lindsay, a graduate of Georgetown Visitation High School and Denison University, was a strong advocate for the improvement of public education and the empowerment of America’s youth. Unfortunately, Lindsay passed away before she was able to achieve her dreams. Despite her untimely passing, Lindsay’s legacy and memory live on in the lives of the friends she touched. Some of her closest friends and family have come together to make her dream a reality by hosting an annual fundraiser in her honor.
