London, United Kingdom
Join the Southern California Mountains Foundation to help fund raise for the Big Bear Discovery Center and our San Bernardino Mountains at our benefit event on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Discovery Center; 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
We need your support to help continue the programming and services we provide at and through the Discovery Center to continue our mission of conservation, environmental education and responsible recreation programming focused on the health, stewardship and sustainability of our mountains, communities and our own lifestyles. Please see our personal note to you below.
We need to raise $25,000 to continue these services at our current level throughout 2014. Heartfelt thanks to our many generous donors who have raised over $17,000 through our current campaign and towards our goal. We're close but need to raise an additional $8,000. Join us at our event and help us go over the top! Tickets are $50 each or $100 each couple.
Together, we can care for our forest and engage, inspire and educate our children and families to help restore and take better care of the mountains we all love.

Dear Friend of the Big Bear Discovery Center,
We hope the signs on all highways leading into the Big Bear Valley marked, “DISCOVERY CENTER INFO”, lead our visitors to our one-stop center dedicated to helping families begin their mountain adventures packed with good information, fun education, great music through our summer concert series, and how to recreate responsibly on our national forest and around our community. In 2013, we welcomed over 190,000 visitors; the largest visitor center on our forest; and, a testament to the value we add to building and sustaining a strong local economy and healthy forest.
Thank you for supporting and showing your LOVE for the Discovery Center, a facility co-managed by the U.S. Forest Service and our nonprofit, the Southern California Mountains Foundation. Contributions to the Mountains Foundation aid our efforts focused on conservation, education and responsible recreation. Becoming better stewards we have found leads to a deeper sense of care and appreciation. Please review the enclosed fact sheet on how your support has made a difference!
However, with an estimated 2.4 million annual visitors to the San Bernardino National Forest and visitation on the rise, our forest continues to be loved to death. Unmanaged recreation is one of the leading threats to National Forest lands. We’re working hard to keep pace and significantly reduce these impacts. It’s our mission and passion since we began 20 years ago; but we’re faced with declining resources leading to reduction in services at the Discovery Center as well as charging for programming that has traditionally been available to all visitors for FREE.
Help us fund raise and celebrate your LOVE for our Discovery Center and mountains! Together, we can care for our forest and engage, inspire and educate our children and families to help restore and take better care of the mountains we all love.
Caring is the act of keeping something safe, healthy and in good condition. We care for our mountains and public lands to ensure these irreplaceable natural areas ~ supported by our visitor hub at the Discovery Center in the heart of your community ~ are here for future generations to enjoy. Purchase your event tickets today for our benefit for the Discovery Center. Thank you in advance for your gift. You make it possible for us to continue our promise.
