The Run to Remember is a 5K USATF certified chip-timed run/5K non-competitive walk on Chicago's beautiful lakefront. More than 4,000 citizens, police officers, families of fallen officers and supporters of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation are expected to participate in the 9th Annual Run to Remember. The event also features a junior jog, appearances by CPD Mounted, K-9, and helicopter units as well as a children’s activities area and performances by the Pipes and Drums of the Emerald Society. The R2R starts and finishes at Gold Star Families Memorial and Park, located just east of Soldier Field.
The Chicago Police Baseball Club, "CPD's Finest", plays this annual game vs. the Chicago Fire Department Baseball Club, "CPD's Bravest", in honor of the CPD's fallen heroes and donates the proceeds to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. About the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation:
The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to honoring the lives of our fallen Chicago police heroes. The Foundation provides support and financial assistance to the families of Chicago Police Officers who were killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty. We have already completed (and now maintain) the nation’s finest police memorial in Gold Star Families Memorial and Park located on our lakefront. Now the Mission Beyond the Memorial continues the tradition of loyalty and generosity of the Chicago Police Department and focuses on the needs of the men and women of this great department, and their families. To date, the CPMF has donated over $6.2 million to such police families.
