Event Details

Grand Festival - Saturday's Grand Tasting will showcase over 200 phenomenal producers of pinot noir.  Consumers will be able to sample up to 400 pinots from every important domestic pinot noir region, from the Russian River Valley to the Santa Lucia Highlands, Oregon to Carneros, the Anderson Valley to the Sonoma Coast to the Santa Rita Hills. Come to Fort Mason  to taste the highly acclaimed 2008 vintage, and talk with the gifted winemakers who created these beautiful wines.  Local specialty food purveyors will serve delectables that pair well with pinot.  Click HERE for more details.

Winemakers "Table Hop" Dinner at Scala's Bistro - Pinot Days joins forces with the American Institute of Wine and Food to offer you a spectacular Pinot Days Winemaker Dinner:  Fourteen wines, fourteen winemakers and incredible one-night only French and Italian-inspired menu specially designed to highlight pinot noir’s great stylistic versatility and pairing ability.  Chefs Jen Biesty and Tim Nugent, both Top Chef contestants, will offer starters to enjoy with wines from six pinot producers in a walk-about style, and then a four-course meal to remember, each course paired with two pinots from two different producers.   Enjoy this incredible, pinot-paired dinner and the colorful, gifted winemakers who create them.  The winemakers will move seats with every course so that they are able to share their stories with attendees. Click HERE for more details.

Twelve Noble Stars:  Celebrating Pinot's Diversity of Style - This tasting is about celebrating pinot’s stylistic diversity.  We will demonstrate that well-made pinot noir, regardless of style, is beautiful and, depending on style, pairs beautifully with both its “usual” pairings and some that are unexpected.  To evidence this, we will pour 12 of the best domestic pinots on the market representing a broad range of styles and regions, and pair them with Chef Crista Luedtke's (boon eat + drink) amazing creations.  Click HERE for more details.

Oregon Pinot Noir:  The Outstanding 2008 Vintage - Come dive into Oregon Pinot Noir!  Oregon’s lauded pinot regions produce notoriously lovely and elegant wines.  But as usual, you cannot sum up pinot noir in a singular style; this wonderfully fragile little grape holds very tight to the particulars of the land on which it’s grown, and thus a grouping of 16 Oregon pinot producers will offer up pinot’s typical and beautiful variety and breadth of style.  The featured winemakers are breath-takingly talented, producing superb and unique wines.  They will sit among you and tell their stories, which are as compelling as the wines you will taste.  Wines will be tasted blind, in four flights.  Featured wineries will be announced on April 15th.  Seats are quite limited, so reserve yours today.  Click HERE for more details.

2011 Producer Spotlight:  Williams-Selyem Pinot Noir - Williams-Selyem is the Granddaddy of exquisite California pinot noir, and by “Granddaddy” we are referring to the rare, wise, masterful gentleman who continues to inspire his posterity to reach their highest heights.  From its humble beginnings in a garage in Forestville, Williams-Selyem has grown to be the most highly esteemed producer of California pinot noir, a status that the lucky ones among us who have enjoyed Williams-Selyem pinots over the years will readily attest.  Pinot Days is honored to put such a winery in our spotlight.  Join us and experience twelve celebrated Williams-Selyem pinots from the 2007 vintage, side by side.  Featured wines will include Williams-Selyem pinots from the Rochioli Riverblock Vineyard, Allen Vineyard, Hirsch Vineyard and Precious Mountain Vineyard.  Enjoy the stories from this legendary winery as you taste some of the most exquisitely crafted, balanced, and lovely pinots in existence – wines that inspire winemakers everywhere to reach their highest heights. Pinot Days

Pinot Days is a non-profit dedicated to the promotion of one of our very favorite things – domestic pinot noir. The majority of the producers Pinot Days features fall into the “boutique” category; they are not big corporations with their own marketing teams.Rather, the winemaker and/or the winery owner often make up the entire staff and thus, they are limited in their ability to bring their beautiful wines to you, the interested wine lover. That’s where Pinot Days comes in!

Pinot Days is a wine event that celebrates pinot noir in its many styles, ranging from modern to earthy to elegant. Unlike wine events that appeal to a narrow customer base featuring wines more alike than different, Pinot Days brings together pinot producers representing every California pinot style, appellation and price point, as well as a number of pinots from Oregon, Germany, New Zealand and Burgundy. Pinot Days also celebrates the passionate people who make pinot noir, which is no easy variety of grape with which to contend, but one that has the innate ability to surpass all other grape varieties.Pinot Days will enable you to explore new producers, find wines you love and can afford, and become a pinot devotee if you are not one already.

From the Grand Festival to the Winemakers Dinner to the more intimate tastings, each of the Pinot Days events will be educational, stimulating and fun. Our goal is to make each event accessible to everyone by keeping the costs reasonable and the attitude casual. Pinot Days will never become an elitist event affordable only to the rich, nor will it become an “insider” event accessible only to industry folks and pinot geeks like us. Rather, we invite insiders to come and enjoy, and we encourage those new to pinot noir – those of you who do not yet know the depth, breadth and sheer loveliness of our noblest grape – to come and taste for yourselves. And meet the winemakers, who are some of the most interesting, passionate, gifted and colorful people we know.We hope to see you there.
