Those looking for a way to provide even more support to our Warren Prescott sailors while enjoying great time of the water before the party, are invited to participate in the Warren Prescott Regatta. The winning team receives a trophy, but all receive entrance to the party with their $300 entry fee. In 2012, 19 teams raced in our core fleet of Rhodes 19's and raised over $4,500.
To register, purchase a ticket for the regatta and party on Eventbrite or contact Corey Williams at email@example.com. Teams are typically comprised of 2 people. Your ticket will cover the cost of entry to the regatta and party for both crew members.
Supporting the Youth
In 2012, 73 Warren Prescott students took 10 hours of free sailing classes during the month of June.
This after-school program focuses on introducing basic sailing skills and concepts, while granting local school children the ability to experience boating on Boston Harbor - a gorgeous natural resource located right in their backyards.
When asked, "What's the most significant thing that Courageous has changed for you?" 70% of our youth sailing students describe feeling more confident.
Courageous Sailing was established in 1987 as a 501(c)(3) by the late South Boston sailing enthusiast Harry McDonough. It was Harry’s dream to use sailing to build character and camaraderie among Boston children from all economic and ethnic backgrounds. For 25 years, we have continued to grow and deliver our mission to transform children’s lives through sailing programs that inspire learning, personal growth and leadership. In Harry’s words, “Every child's perspective is improved 50-yards off-shore.”
Courageous is now a nationally recognized year-round educational center for community sailing and youth development. Courageous offers Boston-area youth free and low-cost out-of-school-time programs in sailing, environmental education, job skills development, and leadership training. In 2011 we were honored to be named one of the top 10 community sailing programs nationwide by both US Sailing and Sail Magazine.
Transforming children's lives through sailing programs that inspire learning, personal growth and leadership.
A community that embraces sailing as a platform for life-long learning, personal growth and leadership; a center of sailing excellence committed to removing barriers to access for all Boston youth, the public and people with physical and intellectual challenges.
