Event Details

Jairo and cyclists prepare to start one of our past fundraiser rides.

Join us  in St. Francisville for the 6th Annual "No Such Thing as Impossible" bike ride, a fundraiser for Wheels to Succeed. Money raised is used to buy specially adapted bikes for children with disabilities.

This year's ride will be in celebration of the life of Jairo Alvarez, founder of the event, who passed away earlier this year.

***WEATHER NOTICE: In the case of rain, the event will still take place for kids and adults (kids may stay contained in the covered pavilion area and bike evaluations will still take place). We will only cancel if there is thunder/lightning. Because this is a nonprofit fundraiser, we will not be issuing refunds, but will contact pre-registered adults regarding alternative packet pickup if needed. Stay tuned to the McMains or Wheels to Succeed Facebook pages for last-minute updates.

This bike ride has three distance options for adult cyclists of all abilities:

8:00am: 75miles (SEE ROUTE)*

9:30am: 40miles (SEE ROUTE)

11:00am: 10miles--(SEE ROUTE)

*Disregard route title; all map links are for 2014 ride and mileage!

Your $40 early-bird registration fee includes the ride, a Brooks technical fabric shirt, sag stops with port-a-potties, sag wagons, course markings, maps, pre-race snacks and coffee, water and electrolyte drinks, hot post-ride lunch (courtesy of J&D Catering), soft drinks, and door prizes. Most importantly, your money supports children in need of adapted bikes funded by Wheels to Succeed!!! There will be an increase of $5 on January 1st, 2014 so register now! Day-of registration will be available at the event for $50. Those who register after March 1st are not guaranteed a shirt; extra shirts will be available at the event on a first-come, first-served basis and sizes are not guaranteed.

DOOR PRIZES Stay tuned because this list is growing!

For event newcomers, we start and end at the West Feliciana Sports Park Pavilion, all the way at the end of CR-202/West Feliciana Parkway (slightly past the point on the Google map at right). Registration/packet pick-up begins at 7am. ALL CYCLISTS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR HELMETS!

Children and families interested in learning about Wheels to Succeed, being evaluated for an adapted bike, or testing one of our demos are invited to join us from 11am until 1pm. This time will include a bike demo booth and two fun rides, one around the pavilion area and a longer one along the drive of West Feliciana Sports Park. Fun rides are also open to "alumni" and children/teens who already have adapted bikes. All children on bikes are REQUIRED TO WEAR HELMETS!

One of our Wheels to Succeed alums enjoys riding with his brother!

McMains Children's Developmental Center - Wheels to Succeed program

Established in 1954, McMains Children’s Developmental Center is a United Way Community Partner and United Cerebral Palsy affiliate. The mission of McMains CDC is to identify and treat children with cerebral palsy, developmental delays and learning disabilities to enable them to reach their potential and to function as independently as possible. Wheels to Succeed formed in 2007 as a program of the McMains Center. The program's goals are to provide children with physical disabilities their own adapted three-wheeled bikes as well as opportunities to ride these bikes in free organized activities. Since the start of the Wheels to Succeed program, almost 100 specially adapted bikes have been awarded to children in South Louisiana. Every child should have the opportunity to ride a bike!
