Creative minds converge! Our annual Diverted Destruction Assemblage Workshop is back for it's 6th year!
Artists are welcomed to bring their own materials and supplies or you can simply share in ours. Those who arrive early will have opportunity to pick through thousands of items, from antique hardware and vintage ephemera to electronics, machine parts and a variety of odds and ends; The Diverted Destruction workshop is free and open to artists of all ages. Our workshop will include both assemblage and collage projects led by our featured artists. Featured artists will be on hand to guide participants. Materials will include various items donated by Liz's Antique Hardware as well as daily castaways destined for the trash. Artists and participants are welcome to bring their own materials to share with other participants.
CAAM, the California African American Museum and The Loft at Liz's co-curate this year’s Diverted Destruction 6 found object assemblage show. Diverted Destruction presents works from cast-off objects often destined for landfill. This show marks the first time the museum is collaborating with a private gallery to introduce local African American artists to new audiences at new venues.
The Loft at Liz’s features the work of African American artists:
Dale Brockman Davis, Charles Dickson, Doug Pearsall, Teresa Tolliver and Timothy Washington. Additional artists include Max Finkelstein, Matjames Metson and Dennis Blevins.
Simultaneously showing at CAAM are the works of Dale Brockman Davis, Derrick Maddox, Rosalyn Myles, Joe Sims and Richard Turner.
Our workshop is FREE and open to artists of all ages and skill levels.
